Slate is a fine-grained, layered rock derived from shale-type sedimentary rock composed of clay or volcanic ash. It is commonly known as being grey in colour, however it occurs in a variety of colours even from a single locality. For example, slate from North Wales are found in many shades of grey, from pale to dark, and may also be purple, green or cyan.
When slate tiles are installed, they can be coated with an oil-based sealant to give the surface a luxurious lucsious appeal. Over time this sealant wears off, revealing a dusty dry surface. This can be easily restored with a strip and seal service.
Slate has a tendency to to flake, we can offer resin restoration processes to restore these flakes.
